Winds of Change

Well, it seems as if my life as been one huge transition period ever since high school. Kind of hard to get very close to anybody. You know what I mean?

The winds of change are blowing again here in my world. Today is my last day of working with Stuart. He is the senior assistant to the Dean here at the Billy Graham School of Missions, Evangelism, and Church Growth. Over the past year, he has become a good friend and brother of mine. He has been a mentor for me here at work. Stuart, I am very grateful for how patient you were with me. You were a lot more patient with me than I would have been with myself! Gonna missya buddy!

Oh no...the wind hasn't stopped blowing yet. Tonight also happens to be my last night with my room mate, Sam. I have learned so much about hard work and integrity from this man. He is the hardest working 24-year-old in the United States, I am convinced. If you ever need any financial advice of any sort, please let me know and I will ask him for you! Gonna miss him, too!

The winds of change...Don't you remember that great 80's song?? I can still hear that dude whistling in the background...

With all that being said, the transition period continues...Then again, does it ever end in this life? If I ever get to the point to where I feel that I have "made it" or that I am "settled", will that not be the end of truly living? To me, the person that settles for merely existing is not really living life to the fullest. William Wallace said it best in Braveheart: "Every man dies. Not every man really lives."

Change is a good thing. It should not be viewed negatively. It is in the midst of change that we learn more about who we are, and what we are living for. Change is what tells us that we are truly alive and kicking. This life is a grain of sand on an infinite beach. Do we want to invest it in truly living for something greater (where more change is inevitable)? Or do we want to spend it in hiding in the cave of comfort, correctness, and "normalcy"?

Only one life people...Morgan Freeman tells it like it is in "Shawshank Redemption": "Get busy living, or get busy dying..."

Your thoughts?
